I have experienced several instances where we identified children who might exhibit symptoms of autism. However, some parents are reluctant to accept these observations. For example, a child who does not socialize at all and rarely makes eye contact may be perceived by parents as just shy or selective about interactions, leading them to assert that their child does not have a problem. How can we assist these parents in recognizing and supporting their children, especially to start an assessment?
