The "SF Express A Bus," the first art bus designed specifically for the autism community, has made its debut at the AIA Carnival. Sponsored by SF Express (Hong Kong) and organized by the Q Plus A Art Foundation, this initiative aims to create a more inclusive environment for individuals with autism, who often face challenges in public spaces.
The bus features sensory experiences and a quiet room to help ease sensory overload, allowing visitors to better understand the challenges faced by those with autism. Over 20 free inclusive activities, including workshops and lectures, will be held on the bus throughout the carnival, running until February 16.
This project highlights the need for autism-friendly environments in public spaces, as many caregivers report discrimination and a lack of accessibility. The A Bus serves as a platform to promote awareness and understanding, fostering connections between the autism community and the public.
